A legend told word for word is not the true story.
The legend that is passed through generations, that evolves and changes, whose glories become more glorified, and whose tragedies become a bloodier, deeper abyss. The story that never truly ends, because even the ending changes every time the story is told, incrementing with every recollection and retelling, the amazement and wonder mounting even greater every night it is told around the campfire. That is the nature of a legend.
But. The legend that IS told the same from the very beginning - Verbatim - that is the true tale of a human's prowess, that is a tale that when told the original amazement and wonder can never grow greater; the mystery that can never be made more mysterious because it IS the true tale, of their transcendence of the mortal coil. |
